Q1: Why are standard stainless steel pumps not recommended for transferring furan resin?
A: Furan resin is used in conjunction with an acidic curing agent. Under long-term operating conditions, this agent corrodes 304/316 stainless steel, causing metal ions to leach into and contaminate the resin, which compromises casting strength and surface quality. The wetted parts of this pump are made from corrosion-resistant composite materials that withstand acidic curing agents; they prevent metal ion contamination and are ideally suited for furan resin systems.
Q2: Can this composite gear pump transfer a mixture of furan resin and curing agent?
A: Transferring the mixture after the curing agent has been added is not recommended. Once mixed, the resin undergoes rapid cross-linking and curing, which easily causes it to adhere to the gears and jam the pump. This pump is designed to transfer the furan resin base and the acidic curing agent separately, allowing for in-line mixing within the external piping.
